One grandmother's pleasure of seeing her grandchildren find the tune God gave them to dance, conduct and sing.

Anna and Annaleigh Dancing to Their Tune

     Finding the Right Tune

Drum roll, please. Did you know every sermon seems to have a tune of its own? So, I suppose, we could say every day is also accompanied by a tune of its own.

Some would have us think our daily experience readies us for a protest march straight to city hall. Their parade is loud and noisy. Yet, when others have a sorrow or a long-standing hurt, a parade is definitely out of the question. The only tune they want to hear is a somber one.

Where does that leave us? A protest march is out. A parade is not fitting. All of us do not share a somber mood. Even a deep theological overture doesn’t fit the bill for those beautiful spring days of our lives.

Neal Conducts His Tune
Drum roll, please. Why don’t we just take a friendly stroll? We can hum a quiet tune and neither of us has to worry about perfect pitch. What’s important is we make time to stroll in harmony with the Son’s tune and His Father’s heart. That note is the masterpiece of oneness. Did you know the number “ONE” is God’s favorite number; or to put it another way, His favorite tune?

Drum roll, please.   Even as we stroll, we might get tired and discouraged. What do we do then? We press on together toward personal victory even when there is no more fight in us. We press on until our stroll is completely dependent and in harmony with our Lord.

Why press on? There’s a prize out there for us. Remember when you ate Cracker Jacks for the prize? Well, this prize is no cheap attainment. For me, the prize is a personal, loving relationship with my God. If you are looking for the right tune, get in harmony with Him. Be a winner.

Adam and Slade Singing Their Tune

Drum roll, please. The where-with-all to stay on key is not to be locked within us for the purpose of enjoying our personal religion. As we stroll look around. There are others out of step with Him. Their life is one noisy discord. When is the last time we hurt or even cried over a fellow Christian’s life-style? Instead of caring, we may applaud them, or even worse, boo them. Neither is appropriate.  We should join in a symphony of prayer with the Holy Spirit for those who are out of tune and out of step with their God.

Drum roll, please. The great crescendo of desire for a Christian should be to know his Savior and to become more like Him. How do we do this? Consider the hen. We know a hen loves to gather her brood under her wing. As a Christian reflecting His nature, we need to reach out to others with the voice of His brooding love. This call is the hammering staccato sound echoing from the Cross. Its desire is to draw all men into a fulfilling relationship in tune and in step with their Creator and Conductor.
