Billie's Journal of Faith
"Knock, knock."
"Who's there?"
"God."
"God who?"
"The God who loves you."
The big question is what do we do with this God who loves us?
The answer is simple...we love him back.
What is the purpose of this writing? It's to share my daily early morning experiences of loving to linger in his presence and loving him back.
This real love affair began in the '70s when I prayed, "God be real to me or leave me alone. I know how to walk the walk and talk the talk."
Through that honest prayer, I soon learned to call him, "Father."
I also learned how to follow the cue cards held up by the Holy Spirit to make right choices and investment. I know the cue cards were right on target because they are words from the Bible.
This sharing time on my website is not meant to be a mountain top experience, for I am certainly no bestseller author or a popular speaker in demand.
Once the Holy Spirit held up this cue card for me "...as they came down from the mountain." Mark 9:9.
He led me to know, as a follower of Jesus, I was not born to homestead on one mountain experience after another. Why? That is where hurting folks don't dwell or often go.
So, how can I put some good (God is good) on others' lives if I are aloof from their struggles? By the way, putting good on others' lives means to bear fruit...bringing God and others together so the Holy Spirit will have more room to work. This is my excuse for being on this earth.
I linger in his presence daily to be one with his mind, motives and movement. Also, I happen to believe "one" is God's favorite number.
Remember Jesus' prayer in John 17:21, "That they may be one, even as we are one." For me this happens not on a mountain top with crowds of people, but in the garden with my Father. The familiar hymn reminds me: " I come to the garden alone...and he walks with me and he talks with me. He tells me I am his own. The joy we share, as we tarry there, none other has ever known."
Prayer for today: Father, may I hear your knock of love today and love you back by loving your children.Amen. (So be it.)
If you have no idea what God is "fixing" to do in your life...read on.
Another Day: Have you ever wondered just what faith is? I have. Today I read from my favorite author, Oswald Chambers, in his book "Daily Thoughts for Disciples" these words:
"Faith never knows where it is being led; it knows and loves the one who is leading. It is a life of faith and not of reason. A life of knowing the one who is making us go on the journey."
Then in John 15:16 this cue card was held up to me by the Holy Spirit, "You did not choose me, but I chose you."
To be honest, as I began this journey in 2007, I have no idea where this choosing will take me, or what God is "fixing" to do. (All southern believers use the word "fixing" and not "beginning.")
I simply surrender. I surrender my purpose driven life to become a chosen one who has heard him call, "Come unto me."
I know the orders are sealed; I also know my knock on the door has been heard. I have to do but one thing: "Keep on asking, seeking and knocking." Matthew 7:7-11
I keep on asking because it will be given. My Father is not indifferent to me.
I keep on seeking for I will find it. My Father does not hide from me.
I keep on knocking because the door will be opened into His Presence. My Father never turns a deaf ear to me.
If we back up to John 14:28 in the "Message" we find another cue card. Jesus told his disciples, "I'm on the way to the Father because He is the goal and purpose of my life."
The way I understand this, it's all about a relationship of oneness with God's mind, motives, and movement.
Then in John 14:31 Jesus said, "I love the Father. I carry out his instructions. Get up. Let's go. It's time to leave here." I think this is about my working relationship with others.
Prayer for today: Father, thank you when the time is right and I get and go, and then you will go with me...the "me"you created "in Christ Jesus." Please continue to put some good on my relationship to you, to others, and to myself. Amen. (So be it.)

Another Day: Deception divides me from God, others and from myself.
There is so much deception and fraud surrounding me today. If I'm honest, I must confess and ask forgiveness on my part in this play-acting.
This one thing I know, in our uncertain world, Jesus is not a fraud. Once I asked my students to write about their heroes, and he wrote, "I don't have a hero. He got shot."
Today many are afraid their heroes won't make it; they simple don't know how to explain war and disease and disasters; they have many plans but things just seem to be getting uglier and uglier.
I am reminded on the cue card found in 1Cor. 13: 7, "Believe in all things."
Through this time with you, Father I see my problems and the world's problems are not the issue in this verse. The main thing is never letting the problem come between you and me. Even though I don't quite understand, may I be confident in my personal devotion to your character as revealed in your son, my Holy Hero.
Prayer for today: Father, It's true my hero, your Son, did die. The good news in he arose and is still living in his believers. Thank you for this great sacrifice of love to put me back into a right relationship with you. May I continue to have a journey of faith in all you have said and how you look at things.
What are the magic words moving God into action?
If you want to see this "cue card"...read on.
Another Day: The cue card held up for me today is small.
I was shown three words on that card guaranteed to move God.
They are, “I need you.”
I need him because in myself and in others, I see folks who have been emptied out by trying people and bad circumstances.
Some are just so satisfied and stagnant in their relationship to you.
Some are sad because no one seems to need them. That’s me…at times.
Somewhere in the book of Ecclesiastes there is a cue card shown to me by your spirit many months ago. It says. “A three-fold cord is not easily broken.”
Until today, I’ve related those words to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Also, to discerning the mind, motives and movements of God and joining you in this journey of oneness. ) Oh, to be taken deeper into this journey of understanding.
Prayer for today: Father, May the first thought in my mind each day be, “I need you, Lord. My family needs you, your church needs you, the leaders of this world need you, Lord, just you.”
